Putting together a Goodnight Moon go along book basket is perfect for enhancing your Before Five in a Row literature study.

Do you create book baskets at the beginning of each row?

Book baskets are a great way to rotate your children’s books, keep library books together, or set the stage for a fun week of learning.

Along with the planned activities for rowing a book, we often used book baskets during our homeschool week.

First, I would pull the books from our home library. If I was missing a title of one of the go along books and couldn’t find a substitute on our own book shelves, I would make a list of the titles I wanted to look for at the library.

If possible, I always included multiple copies of our main book title. This allowed us to take turns reading from the book and it was good practice for my son to follow along and turn the pages all on his own.

Because we enjoy living books, often we searched for books at used book sales or online book swap sites. Amazon makes it easier than ever to find these elusive titles from the golden era of reading.

In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. “Goodnight room, goodnight moon.” And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room—to the picture of the three little bears sitting on chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one—the little bunny says goodnight.

In this classic of children’s literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.
