Yellow Ball by Molly Bang

Before FIAR Yellow Ball is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2-4). Children of all ages will also enjoy this story.

Like many families, one of our favorite vacation spots is at the beach! Yellow Ball by Molly Bang is a poignant story incorporating children on both sides of the ocean and a yellow balls journey in between. Yellow Ball is a wonderful book to row during your homeschool journey.

Summary of Yellow Ball

Catch. Throw. Uh-oh. The yellow ball is forgotten at the edge of the water. Little by little, so no one notices, the ball floats out to sea.

All alone, it travels and drifts into a storm. Tossed by waves all through the night, it sails ashore next day to a hug and a home.

Luminous pastels and a rhythmic text tell a story that is exciting and reassuring.

Go Along Books

Go along books are one of my families favorite ways to row in the Five in a Row curriculum. We loved ending our week with a reading marathon or starting a new week with a fresh FIAR book that coordinated with the week prior.

Go alongs are also a great way to revisit a special topic during a review week or free reading time.
